Estrella Belén Chávez Galván (2016-2017)
Belén is a biologist who graduated from the National School of Biological Sciences at the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico, with her published thesis entitled “The Herpetofauna in the Fossil and Archaeological Record of the Mexican Quaternary.” She continued with her master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with the thesis “Analysis of Distribution Patterns of the Herpetofauna at the State of Guanajuato.” Belén has extensive experience in scientific collections management, documentary research, and fieldwork as well as using GIS for the analysis of biota distribution (e.g., ecological niche modeling). In addition, she has worked on several collaborations with various institutions, including but not limited to a museographic project for the re-opening of the “Museo de Historia Natural Alfredo Dugès” in Guanajuato, Mexico, and currently for the Project Plaza of the Columns in the areas of communication and outreach.
